Shiraz

Vertical

Tasting

11 vintages under our belt and we would like to share some of them with you. From our first small production in 2000 through to our current release the 2008, we invite you to participate in our Shiraz Vertical Tasting event.

What is a vertical tasting? The same wine is presented in a line up across a number of vintages. It is an opportunity to show you how the wines age and discuss the ageing process. For those of you who have trouble keeping the wine, we have cellared it for you! Enjoy these wines with food prepared by Shiraz Restaurant.

Saturday 14 August 2010
Price: $75.00 per person
Venue: our cellar door
Bookings: info@pyramidsroad.com or 4684 5151

Wine Options
2009 WINNERS

The Merlot Rouges

Want to learn about wine, have the chance to win some prizes and have a lot of fun as well? Well, wine options is for you!

" Team event with the emphasis on FUN.
" Find 4 people interested in wine and think up the catchiest name and come in costume to match. Some examples of team names are Bob Merlot & the Winos, Punks on Plonk, The Big Spit, Hard Act to Swallow, Deft Palates, Noble Rotters, The Spitt-Hoons, No Screwpulls, Natural Born Swillers, Pinot Envy, etc.
" Teams are asked to answer 5 questions on 8 different wines. (4 white and 4 red)
" Choose the correct answer from the three options (A, B or C) provided for each question.
" Even if people are new to wine and they really don't know how to tell the difference between a Cabernet and a Shiraz (and none of us do either!), at least they have options to choose from.
" So Wine Options is a game for everyone to enjoy.

Wilderness Connection

For the lovers of native flora and fauna, our Wilderness Connection exhibition is the first event of this kind for us. Well known sculpture artist, Maggie Brockie is collaborating with botanical artist Jac Pommer to exhibit native flora and fauna in clay and paint during the September school holidays. The exhibition will be opened by Frank Manthey of Bilby fame on Saturday 25 September and will run for three weeks until Sunday 3 October. All works will be on sale and we invite you to visit our cellar door during this time. Don't miss it!

Mad About Mourvedre

We're mad about Mourvedre! Are you interested in learning more about this emerging variety? We invite you to join us at Pyramids Road Wines for a selection of Mourvedre blends from Australia and France to be accompanied by rustic Mediterranean cuisine. This selection of wines will include our 2005, 2006 and 2007 Bernies Blend. This strange bird variety is mostly used in blended reds so this is an opportunity to try a few side by side.

Vintage activities

grape_picking_Pyramids_Road

Picking and crushing - customers are invited to join us each year to be involved in the vineyard and winemaking process. Vintage usually starts around mid March however timing is impossible to predict. We only pick when the grapes are ready so we cannot give you much advance notice. It's a great weekend, picking first up on Saturday, lunch provided in the cellar door, more picking and crushing on Sunday morning. You'll even get a free T-shirt to prove you were here! Some people (check out Sarah) even get to get into the fermenters!

Bottling - We usually bottle when we need the barrels however it is possible that bottling can occur anytime throughout the year. Be involved in bottling your own bottle and add your own label. It's a lot of fun without the hard work.
